Ironstone is a very dense form of stoneware that was first manufactured in England in the early 19th century. English ironstone tableware was incredibly popular during the Victorian era and remained so throughout the 20th century. The company English Ironstone Tableware Company was founded in 1883 and produced some of the most iconic pieces of English tableware. Unfortunately, the company went out of business in 2007. However, their legacy continues in the many pieces of ironstone tableware that are still in use today.
